  32.  Update Software Inventory - This selection will present a  
  33.  screen where you will see an abbreviated "Table View" of
  34.  the software programs in your Software Inventory, and
  35.  allow you to optionally ADD, CHANGE or DELETE records.
  36.  Update Software Categories - This selection will present
  37.  a screen where you will see a "Table View" of the
  38.  Software Categories that you've defined, and allow you to  
  39.  optionally ADD, CHANGE or DELETE records.
  40.  Print Reports - This selection will present you with
  41.  another menu which lists reports available for printing.
  42.  Quit - Exits the Software Information System program.

  44.  # OF DISKS Field 
  45.  * Enter the total number
  46. of diskettes that this
  47. program consists of.
  48.  * This field is REQUIRED.

  50.  PROGRAM NAME Field 
  51.  * Enter the title of your

  53. field.

  59. of the program here. Both  
  60. numbers & letters may be

  65.  * Enter your rating of this program on a
  66. scale of 1 to 10 (1=Bad 10=Best).
  67.  * You may toggle numbers 1 through 10 in
  68. the "selector" area to the right of the
  69. field by using the

  71. ENTER when the desired number is
  72. highlighted.

  74.  RETAIL COST Field 
  75.  * Enter the approximate Retail or
  76. Full price in this field.
  77.  * This field, along with the Actual  
  78. Cost field is intended to let you  
  79. track your software "bargains".

  83.  Report Selection Menu 
  84.  * Group By Software Type: This report will print out your entire software  
  85. inventory, grouped by category, with subtotals for each category on the  
  86. numeric fields and grand totals at the end of the report. Subtotals and  
  87. grand totals report total programs, total diskettes, total retail and
  88. actual costs, and the average rating for your programs. This will most
  89. likely be your most commonly used report.
  90.  * Alphabetical Listing: This report will print out your entire software
  91. inventory in alphabetical order, with grand totals at the end of the
  92. report.
  93.  * Single Software Type: This report allows you to print out those programs 
  94. which correspond to a single software category (i.e., print out only
  95. spreadsheet programs). When you select this option you will be presented 
  96. with a screen prompting you for the Software Category to print out.
  97. Select the desired category and press ENTER to process the report.
  98. ESC to Return to Program
  99.  Update Software Category 
  100.  * Type Abbrev Field - Enter a 5-letter or less abbreviation  
  101. for the Software Type or category (i.e., SS for spread-
  102. sheet, DB for database, etc.). Your entry will be
  103. converted to uppercase automatically.
  104.  * Description Field - Enter a description of the Software
  105. Type abbreviation you entered (i.e., "Spreadsheet" for SS, 
  106. "Database" for DB, etc.). This description is what will
  107. appear in certain reports.
  108. ESC to Return to Program
  109.  Software Inventory Table 
  110.  The SEARCH box: You may "optionally" enter a string here
  111.  for a Program Title to locate in the table. With each
  112.  letter you type the selection bar in the table will move
  113.  towards the desired Program Title.
  114.  Cursor Keys: Scrolls the selection bar through the
  115.  table of Program Titles.
  116.  This "Table View" only displays the Program Title and
  117.  Version fields. You may edit ALL fields in a record by
  118.  positioning the selection bar and pressing:
  119.  INS - To Add a Record. Pops up a data-entry window
  120.  displaying ALL fields in a new blank record.
  121.  ENTER - To Change a Record. Pops up a data-entry window
  122.  displaying ALL fields for modification.
  123.  DEL - Delete a Record. You will be asked for confirmation.

  126.  Software Categories Table View 
  127.  In this Table you can view the available Software Categories. Pressing
  128.  the 
  129.  Cursor Keys scrolls through the records in the Table. To edit a
  130.  record, select it with the highlighted bar and press:
  131. * INS
  132. - To ADD a Record. Pops up a window displaying a new
  133. record with all fields blank.
  134. * ENTER - To CHANGE a Record. Pops up a window displaying
  135. the selected record for modification.
  136. * DEL
  137. - To DELETE a Record. Pops up a window displaying
  138. the selected record and asks for a confirmation
  139. of your Delete request.
  140.  NOTE - If accessing this window while Updating a record in the Program
  141. File, you will be selecting the desired category for inclusion
  142. into the Category field and pressing ENTER. You may still
  143. perform all record manipulation (ADD, CHANGE, DELETE records).
